It's been nearly 3 months.
I still don't feel any different.
I still don't understand.
I have never understood the phrase "you don't know what you've got till it's gone" as much as I do right now. |

Reply to this meme by yelling "Words!" and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you.
kizna1200 tagged me with Airsoft, Hippie vans, The Posse, Golf GTI and Die Hard.
Airsoft Airsoft is a sport I enjoy playing, invented sometime in the 80's by the Japanese. It's quite like paintball, only the guns are based on real world weapons (in terms of looks) and fire 6mm plastic pellets instead of the much larger paintballs. It's a lot of fun, I first got into it when my friend Max got a cheap airsoft uzi, and I was amazed how accurate it was for £20 toy. Some friend and I play up the road on some private land, originally we played where we split into two teams and once you were hit once you were out for the rest of that game, with the objective to eliminate the all the players on the other team. More recently we've been playing all kinds of different game types that encourage more movement and keep everyone playing throughout the game.
Hippie Vans VW campers vans or the VW Type 1 if you want to be technical is a vehicle I totally adore. I love the whole idea of them, the looks and the simplicity. Of course they are old and underpowered, but they are German and they do run forever. I won't forget this bumper sticker I once saw that sums them up quite well: "You may pass me, but you won't outlast me" Recently I've had less intrest in them as I've passed my test and discoverd how much I like driving fast ;P Of course I would still love to own one, specificly at T2 panel van (possibly painted like the mystery machine from Scooby Doo) with camper insides. The main problem with them is the price, because they are classic cars. One of the reasons I want a T2 panel van is that they are quite cheap in comparison to there camper counterparts, expect to pay at least twice as much for a T2 camper than a T2 panel van (even if fitted out inside like a camper). Also, the T2 has a more modern design with more power, better electrics than the T1. Yes the T1 is the orginal and the best looking, but I just can't get round the fact, that for a good condition one, you're looking at £20,000+ for a 50 year old van.
The Posse This is a name for my group of friend in Malton and Norton, I love them very much =]
Golf GTI YES. What a car! Sure, for a dream car it's not much, it's no Ferrari, Porsche or Lambo. It's the ultimate hot hatch. You can leave it parked at the side of the road, knowing noone will ever vandalize it, yet you can turn up posh hotel or restaurant and the valet WILL park it for you. You can take your friends home in it, then drive at a MILLION miles an hour back home agian. You can powerslide with one finger while carrying a chest of drawers in the back. You can drive it economically, it dosn't cost thousands of £'s to insure it (unless you're young...). What is it? It's all things, to all men.
Die Hard Right, let me start by saying, if you havn't seen all of them, go watch them right now. Every single one is brilliant. Yeah, sure the first one is by far the best, but they are all fantastic. The mother of all action films. The best action sequences, the best characters and villains. It's my favorite set of films of all time, and I demand you go watch them!

| Google to release Operating System |
[Jul. 9th, 2009|12:28 am] |
Google have increased the world domination plans and have now stated that they are going to release an Operating System. Anyone spot that one coming? It will be called Google Chrome OS (how creative) and will be released some time in mid 2010, at first on cheap netbooks (think ASUS' EEE PC) as a lightweight OS and later with a few more features on normal PC's. It'll be Open Source, just like Google's Mobile OS, Andriod (yay!) but will cost money (nay!). Credit where it's due, they've released this info at good time, because the realease of Windows 7 is due soon, and hopefully it will make people think twice about which OS they use.
Building from the ground up - Google have said they arn't using anything that has already been created and are starting from scratch (sounds good so far dosn't it?). They plan to re-think how computers are used now and (tipical Google, focusing on web based applications) are going to focus around the web, so expect webstorage and login on to your system with a Google Account among other things. Google also said "it should just work" this would be the holy grail of OS's, but the chances of this being completely true, are very slim.
Clearly Google is making a big effort to trump MS at every turn, search engines (Google vs. MS Search, now Bing), browsers (Chrome vs. Internet Explorer), mobile OS's (Andriod vs. Windows Mobile). Google have been very sucsessful so far, from this, you might think that Google stand a good chance of toppeling MS's rain of power. However, I don't think they do, before Google people used many other search engines: Yahoo, Lycos, AoL, Ask to name a few, but MS never had the most used search engine. Also with web browsers either people stuck with IE simply because they couldn't be botherd to differ or they changed to Netscape, Firefox or Opera, Chrome never toppled the giant of Firefox or even that of Opera. Again with Windows Mobile, it was never the most used Mobile OS, Symbian has always been top dog, and now people are all over iPhones and Blackberry's which run there own OS's. So don't jump the gun and asume Google will overtake MS's huge 90% share of OS's.
I do however think they will get a lot of control of the netbook market, as the EEE PC's Linux distribution isn't the greatest thing on earth and Windows OS's are little too heavy for the Atom proccesor. Couple there claims of a light weight OS and one built around the web, then you have the perfect OS for netbooks. |

| Which room? |
[Jul. 7th, 2009|10:58 am] |
At the moment I'm trying to decide which room I want out of the two spare rooms we have upstairs. Help me decide please =]
Room 1:

Room 2:

Room 1 has a bigger window and is lighter and brighter. Also, I can do more with decoration in there. There is way more wall space in this room for my CD wall, poster and furni.
Room 2 has built in wardrobes and a fireplace, it also has an en-suit but I would be using that bathroom regardless of which room I choose. It's already half decorated, which is a good and bad thing depending on how you look at it, it'll be ready sooner but will have the same wallpaper, carpet and curtains it does now (and bedsheets that match the curtains).

| Airsoft vs Paintball |
[Apr. 28th, 2009|10:24 am] |
This is why paintball pisses me of so much.
This is a faux magazine for a tippman A5, it will fit no other gun other than the A5 and serves no purpose other than looks (it also has a hole through it for a gas pipe) for £35 on sale!:
Here
This is effectively the airsoft equivalent, a Jing Gong 200round hi-cap (it has moving parts in it, which is alot more than can be said for the faux mag), you fill a well in the mag with BB's and then wined the wheel on the bottom to load those BB's in to the sprung bit, if you will. £8.99 posted:
Here
Everything is cheaper in airsoft if you buy Chinese. Otherwise everything is cheaper except the guns. Ammo is the biggest difference. 200 paintballs at a site or cheap quality ones will cost you something like £8, for the same £8 you can get 5000 high grade BB's. Or if you buy in bulk for more money, even less.

| Twitter |
[Mar. 15th, 2009|02:05 pm] |
Yeah, I have twitter, and it's pretty nice, check it out: my profile. I'm following some of my friends and some well know people such as Stephen Fry and Johnathon Ross, all of which usually have something interesting to say. It's a micro-blog, limiting you to 140 charactors per post, it's got a very clean design, replies can done by simple putting @{twitter username} at the start of your post, thus showing all your replies on your profile page too. I also quite like the use of OpenID, which lets you sign into many other sites with your Twitter log in without haveing to make accounts, things like twitpic which is used for posting pictures on your twitter, which are often fully compatible with mobile devices. There are some very strong applications for iPhone, Andriod, Symbian and Windows Mobile which not only allow posting of tweets (twitters name for posts, I think it's very cute), but also include full viewing of others tweets and many have to capability to take a picture using your phones camera, upload it twitpic and post it straight into a tweet with one push of a button. Depending on your phone it can also post the location where your photo was taken (using 3G, GPS or the network itself). Personally, I have a dinosaur of a phone, but it does support Java apps, so I've got myself jtwitter (point your phone browser to www.jwitter.com/wap for a direct download), it's basic but it does what it's sposed to and it does it well.
I love twitter, for me it's beauty is that it has a very simple clean interface and idea with some very clever technology and ideas behind it that makes it so great.

| Obama |
[Mar. 12th, 2009|06:46 pm] |
|
I was having a discussion with my friend today, and he was saying that as Obama has become president then you could argue that there is no longer race-ism in America. He also said that he doesn't think race comes into it. I think he couldn't be more wrong, saying that colour doesn't matter demeans Obama's immense achievement, becoming the president of America despite being black, and being the first person to do so. If race is to be left out the equation then it makes the whole situation much less important. Of course there are still people who are horrified at a black man being president, which will assure that Obama will continue to achieve greatness. I think everyone will agree that America needed change after the Bush administration, and for that change to come in the form of a black man is just awesome! |

| QWERTY |
[Feb. 16th, 2009|08:31 pm] |
So I'm looking around for a phone with a QWERTY keyboard, avg. camera and 3G on like a £20-25 a month contract (if anyone knows of any decent ones, now would be the time to say...) and I somehow stumble across some guy who's planning on building a desk, and then these pretty funky shelves. Check out this blog post. I particularly like the ones that can fold/roll.

Oh yeah, I think so.
Just downloaded WinAMP to give it another go, and it's pretty good, admittedly it has more buttons than you can shake a stick at. I'll still be using iTunes to update my iPod (or maybe even YamiPod [Yet Another iPod Manager]) I fell out with it because it doesn't auto-update when you get more songs, unless of course if you rip them, or get them through the iTunes store. I never really liked WMP because you had to specify you wanted to see your Libary every time you opened it, although I do like the way seems to play any video type you can through at it. Also, I wanted to be able to access my music on my Playstation 3, and WMP's sharing thing conked out on me, I tried everything to fix it, but there seems to be a few other people with the same problem that no one has managed to fix yet. WinAMP seems to have solved all my problems for now. I refuse to anything other than those three, because they're the only ones supported by last.fm, and I do love my last.fm account. Lovin' Deja Entendu at the moment too. =] |

| Sublime |
[Dec. 8th, 2008|04:44 pm] |
Let me tell you about a girl I know Had a drink about a hour ago Sitting in a corner by herself In a bar in downtown Hell She heard a noise and she looked through the door And saw a man she'd never seen before Light skin, light blue eyes A double-chin and a plastic smile Well, her heart raced as he walked through the door And took an empty seat next to her at the bar 'My brand new car is parked right outside How'd ya like to go for a ride?' And she said, 'Wait a minute I have to think' He said, 'That's fine, may I please buy you a drink' One drink turned into 3 or 4 And they left and got into his car And drove away someplace real far Now babe the time has come How'd ya like to have a little fun? And she said 'If we could only please be on our way, I will not run'
That's when things got out of control She didn't want to, he had his way She said, 'Let's Go' he said, 'No Way!' 'Come on babe it's your lucky day Shut your mouth, were gonna do it my way Come on baby don't be afraid If it wasn't for date rape I'd never get laid'
He finished up and started the car He turned around and drove back to the bar He said 'Now baby don't be sad In my opinion you weren't half-bad' She picked up a rock Threw it at the car Hit him in the head Now he's got a big scar Come on party people won't you listen to me Date rape stylee
The next day she went to her drawer Look up her local attorney at law Went to the phone and filed the police report And then she took the guy's ass to court Well, the day he stood in front of the judge he screamed 'She lies that little slut!' The judge knew that he was full of shit And he gave him 25 years And now his heart is filled with tears
That night in jail it was getting late He was butt-raped by a large inmate, and he screamed But the guards paid no attention to his cries
That's when things got out of control The moral of the date rape story It does not pay to be drunk and horny But that's the way it had to be They locked him up and threw away the key Well, I can't take pity on men of his kind even though he now takes it in the behind Date rape!
She didn't want to She didn't want to She didn't want to She didn't want to take it!

Just sitting in The Cutting Edge with 5/6 people on my course (theres 5 laptops on the table XD) listening to The Final Sigh - new song! (myspace.com/thefinalsigh)
You Communicate With Your Ears
|

You love conversations, both as a listener and a talker.
What people say is important to you, and you're often most affected by words, not actions.
You love to hear complements from others. And when you're upset, you often talk to yourself.
Music is very important to you. It's difficult to find you without your iPod.

| Theory |
[Nov. 9th, 2008|12:33 am] |
Wahey! I passed my driving theory today! Wasn't to bad, 48 out of 50 for the multi-choice and something like 10-12 points more than I needed for the hazard perception, even though I clicked too many times for one of the clips and scored 0... I didn't think it was even possible! I never got that on the practice DVD...
I know it's quite a girly test thing, but I kinda liked the result =P :
What Your Cute Monster Says About You
|

You're the type of person who stands out in a crowd, even when you're trying to blend in.
You are honest in your character and appearance. You don't pretend to be someone else.
Your inner demon is sorrow. You tend to get depressed easily.
People think you're cute because you're rebellious. Your uniqueness is charming.

| Shorty Choons |
[Nov. 2nd, 2008|11:26 pm] |
Back at uni agian, after a weekend at home. Got my driving theory next weekend! Need to read up more really, wish me luck! Just listening to some banging chooonns, should really get to bed soon, gotta be in for 9 tomorow. Probably have a lecture on power supplies or something eqally thrilling! -.-
Got my airsoft shorty shotgun last week. Pretty fucking awesome. 320fps (about 1 joul per pellet), three shots at once out of seprate barrels. It's built like a fucking tank, and is a bitch cock, but it's gonna be funnnn =P
That reminds me, need to sort out the rear harness point, so it's on the right, becuase i'm a lefty shooter. The front one can be on the left, right or bottom, but the rear one only has a place on the left of the gun, it's gaaay!
Right, gonna sleep in a bit. |

Okay, firstly, it's weird when you search limewire and you get instant results with the speed as Ethernet. I.E. people in the same building as me have the computer on, with limewire open with the song i just searched shared. 5 people in this building are currently shareing Katie Perry - I Kissed a Girl. The EXACT same file. At least, i'm pretty sure thats whats happening. Holy crap! Just searched Kings of Leon... About 100 results on the same network as me.
Anyway, to the point! So i'm currently in my accomodation at uni, I got here by train =]

Thought i'd just post a couple of photos of my accomdation, it's pretty retro, but my room is nice and big.

I've got some more photos on my photobucket if anyone cares: here.
So yeah, it's one of my TWO(!!!) study days today, so I'm just going to sit about and hopefully do some work. Need lunch first =P
Annie's going to Spain tomorow D= So i'm going to stay in tonight and talk to her =] hope she has fun there, her exchange person can speak good english, but is a bit of creep:
 Cosmolicius! XD
I'll close with a few photos, one of my new friend Chris (the only photo I have of anyone here at uni that isn't blurred):

The side of the Owen building here at Sheffield Hallam:

And this picture of me and Annie on my prom night that I just found on my photobucket. Shes always so pretty =]
